Guardrail and handrail
VertiSpace fabricates its guardrail and steel handrail to meet IBC, BOCA and OSHA building codes. The handrail is specially designed for safety, strength and appearance. |

 | | Our guardrail design utilizes floor mounted kick plate as a safety feature to restrict items from being “kicked” off the mezzanine deck. Our standard 2 or 3-rail style guardrail is suitable for applications where the general public will not have access to the mezzanine. In applications where the general public will have access to the platform, custom guardrail is required. In this instance, the IBC building code requires the rail openings be no larger than the space a 4” sphere could fit though. We also offer custom guardrail in a variety of designs including; vertical balusters and wire cloth, just to mention a few. |

 | | Gates
We offer a variety of sliding gates which allow for easy movement of pallets and objects, on and off platforms; including swing gates, sliding gates and security gates. All gates are designed for safety and ease of use.
- Swing Gate – Our most popular gate. The standard fits a 6’ opening, each gate section is 3’ in width. Custom sizes are also available.

- Sliding Gate – Our sliding gate is exceptionally easy to open and close. This style requires a minimum of 18 linear feet to operate. Standard gate fits a 6’opening.
- Safety Gate – The safety gate is ideal for moving pallets on and off mezzanines while providing maximum safety for personnel both on the mezzanine and on the floor below. The pallet load is captured within a tubular structural steel frame which pivots back and forth between two different loading positions. Whether you are placing pallets onto the mezzanine with a lift truck, or unloading the pallet after it has be dropped on the deck, a safety guardrail is in place to protect your personnel. Standard gate fits a 6’ opening.
- Pallet Drop Guards – Pallet drop guards provide a means to protect the deck surface from pallets at gate locations. The drops are formed from steel diamond plate.
Openings and Cut-outs
Mezzanine decks can be designed with openings or cut-outs to accommodate stairs, gates, vertical lifts, conveyor, or any items that need to pass through the deck floor. VertiSpace mezzanines can also accommodate integrated material handling systems including conveyors and serration equipment.
