Guardrail (handrail)

VertiSpace fabricates its guardrail (steel handrail) to meet IBC, BOCA and OSHA building codes. The handrail is specially designed for safety, strength and appearance. Our guardrail design utilizes floor-mounted kickplate as a safety feature to restrict items from being “kicked” off the mezzanine deck. Our standard 2- or 3-rail-style guardrail is suitable in situations in which the general public will not have access to the mezzanine.

In cases where there is general public access to the platform, custom guardrail is required. For this situation, the IBC building code requires that rail openings be small enough to block a 4” sphere. We also offer custom guardrail in a variety of designs including; vertical balusters and wire mesh, just to mention a few.
